Home Energy Assistance Program Offers Additional Funding to Dutchess County Residents

Dutchess County residents who need help to pay their home heating expenses can apply for Dutchess County HEAP Plus, a new program funded by Dutchess County Government and administered in partnership with United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region. Individuals/families can receive two heating benefit payments. The HEAP Plus program provides $750,000 in funding to assist vulnerable families and seniors who may not be able to pay their heating bills due to the reduction in HEAP benefits. Additionally, assistance is also available for residents who are slightly above the federal HEAP eligibility requirements.

Dutchess County residents whose income falls between 60-80% of the average median income can apply for a one-time payment for home heating assistance as well as applying for furnace repair and replacement assistance. Specific income requirements are available at:

The Town of Washington Recreation Commission would like to thank our seniors for their support of our Senior Trips. We hope you will join us for lunch at the Millbrook Fire House. The Millbrook Ladies Auxiliary will be serving chicken parmesan, tossed salad, bread, strawberry shortcake, coffee & tea. The Recreation Office will also be discussing our 2014 trips, and the Town & Village Clerks office and personnel from the Assessors' office will be available for questions and will be providing information on services available to you. St. Francis Healthcare will be on site to talk about programs and resources available to you.
