Notice: Amphibian Migration Season – Please Drive Carefully on Rainy Nights

This is the time of year when amphibians migrate from woodlands to nearby wetlands to breed. These migrations typically occur on dark, rainy nights, when frogs, salamanders, and other amphibians cross local roads to reach their breeding areas.

During these events, volunteers may be present along roadways helping these animals cross safely. Motorists are asked to please drive with extra caution on rainy nights for the safety of both the amphibians and the volunteers assisting them.

The Amphibian Migrations & Road Crossings Project is part of a broader initiative to partner with local communities to help conserve forests, wetlands, and other natural areas that support the health and resiliency of the Hudson River Estuary watershed.
