Volunteers Needed for Pedestrian & Bicycle Counts in the Village

Dutchess County Needs Your Help!

Every year, the Dutchess County Transportation Council (DCTC) organizes volunteers to count people walking and cycling at various locations around the county.

The dates for this year’s counts are Tuesday September 23, Wednesday September 24, and Thursday September 25 (all 4-6 pm; you choose which day to count), and Saturday, September 20 or 27 (12-2 pm; you choose which day to count).

Counts are done at ‘screenlines’ along a street and at intersections.

  1. At screenlines, the counter tallies each person that crosses in front of them on the street or sidewalk.
  2. At intersections, the counter tallies each person that crosses the intersection on foot, or rides through on a bike.
