🌳Village Brush Collection Begins April 1 – Important Guidelines

Dear Residents,
 
Please be advised that Village brush collection begins April 1 and runs through May 31. This service is provided to assist with routine yard maintenance and does not include leaf collection (leaf pickup begins October 1).
 
Collections are typically completed within one week. If your brush has not been collected within that time, please contact the Department of Public Works at (845) 677-3022.
 
The Village will also provide storm-related brush removal for up to two (2) weeks following a storm event. 🌧️
 
 
✅ What’s Accepted:
  • Tree and bush branches less than 4 inches in diameter
  • Branches no longer than 8 feet
  • Do not mix brush with leaves, grass, or dirt
📏 Limits:
  • One (1) pile per parcel
  • Maximum size: 10 ft (L) x 6 ft (W) x 4 ft (H)
  • Excess material will not be collected and may be subject to fines
📍 Placement:
  • Place brush neatly alongside the street
  • Do NOT place brush in the street
  • Properties with rear street access: place brush at the front address side only
  • Corner lots: place brush on one side only
🚫 Not Accepted:
  • Leaf piles
  • Tree trunks, stumps, or logs
  • Yard clearing or tree removal
  • Contractor-generated debris
  • Grass clippings, dirt, or sod
  • Processed wood, furniture, or household waste
⚠️ Improper materials may result in non-collection and/or fines.
 
🚨 Safety Reminders
  • Do not create traffic hazards
  • Do not block storm drains or catch basins
  • Do not place prohibited materials at the curb
Program Purpose
This service is intended for maintenance of improved and landscaped areas only. Brush from clearing natural wooded areas will not be collected.
 
For disposal of other materials, residents may:
  • Compost yard waste, or
  • Use the Town of Washington Transfer Station
    (Passes available at Town Hall, 10 Reservoir Drive | 845-677-3419)

Please note: All rules will be strictly enforced with no exceptions.
