Highway Questions
April 1st – May 31st and 2nd Monday of July, August & September.
Brush pick-up is a service provided to Village Residents from April 1st to May 31st with additional pick-up days during the summer months which include the second Monday of July, August & September. The Village also offers storm damage removal up to (2) weeks after a storm. This does NOT include tree trunks or stumps.

Tree and bush branches that are less than 4 inches in diameter and less than 8 feet in length. Please DO NOT mix with leaves, grass or dirt.
(1) pile per parcel no larger than 10-foot-long, 6-foot-wide, 4-foot high. Anything in excess of this will not be picked up and subject to a fine.
October 1st – November 30th
Leaf pick-up is a service provided to Village Residents from October 1st to November 30th. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to the dates. After November 30th the trucks used to pick up leaves are equipped with road sanders in preparation for snow so please plan accordingly.
Residents are asked to place leaves curbside in wind rows for collection.
LEAVES ONLY – NO BRUSH, GRASS OR DEBRIS. Materials other than leaves can damage our equipment and clog the drains.

PARKING IS PROHIBITED on all Village streets 1:00 am to 6:00 am December 1st thru March 31st. Violators will be ticketed.
Residents may place their live trees curbside for pick-up. Please do not place trees in the road. This program is for LIVE trees only. No artificial trees will be picked up.
DO NOT leave ornaments or lights on trees.
Please note that everything must be removed from the tree in order for it to be picked up. We will not accept trees still containing decorations, tinsel, lights, tree stands or other items.
DO NOT put trees out prior to snow storm
If you are aware of a snow storm coming please wait until after clean-up is finished. If the tree is buried in the snow we will not dig it out to remove it.
The Village Highway Department will pick-up trees through January 31st weather permitting. There is no set schedule for this program.

An unusually high water bill is most often caused by a leak or change in water use. Some common causes of high water bills include: A leaking toilet, or a toilet that continues to run after being flushed, most common. A dripping faucet; a faucet drip can waste 20 gallons or more of water a day.

YES. The failure to mail a statement or the failure of a property owner to receive a bill does not affect the validity of the taxes or interest prescribed by law (NYS Tax Law Section 922). Neither the tax collector nor any other official has the authority to waive statutory penalty charges.
No. Payments can be paid by check or cash only.
The village does not accept partial payments. The bill must be paid in one full payment.
No, payments may be mailed to the Village Hall at PO Box 349, Millbrook, NY 12545. A US Postal Service postmark is used to determine the date the payment was made. We recommend that if you are waiting to the last day to pay your taxes, that you see the postal clerk affix the postmark. A postage machine, such as Pitney Bowes, does not count as a US Postal Service postmark. For your convenience, we have a locked mailbox to the left of the door at the Village Hall that we check every weekday. You can leave you payment in there during non-business hours.
If you are a property owner 65 years or older or have a disability you may complete the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance Form RP-923 to have a copy of your bill or notice of unpaid taxes sent to a third party. Request for a duplicate tax bill.
The new assessed value should be first applied on the school tax bill. If the new assessment hasn’t been applied to the bill, please contact the Assessor’s Office (located at the Town of Washington Town Hall) at 845-677-8321. You will be required to complete an App for Corrected Tax Roll.
