Stanford Road Bridge Replacement to Begin May 1, 2024

RE: REPLACEMENT OF BRIDGE W-21, STANFORD ROAD, OVER THE EAST BRANCH OF THE WAPPINGER CREEK, TOWN OF WASHINGTON AND VILLAGE OF MILLBROOK, DUTCHESS COUNTY

The Dutchess County Department of Public Works (DPW) will be replacing the bridge on Stanford Road over the east branch of the Wappinger Creek, in the Village of Millbrook and Town of Washington. This work is critical to improving the safety of the roadway.

Project work, which is anticipated to start on or about the week of May 1, 2024, will include removal of the existing bridge and replacing it with a new structure. The new bridge will be wider to include four-foot shoulders. Stanford Road will be closed to through traffic in the vicinity of the project near Dineen Road with a detour posted along Franklin Avenue and Sharon Turnpike (State Route 44). View the map of the detour. The project is anticipated to be complete, with the new bridge open to traffic, by the fall of this year.
